BMW to introduce the Mini Cooper in India

German automaker BMW is all set to introduce a small car in the Indian market. This new edition will be available in three variants viz. Mini One, Cooper and Cooper S.  It would be full of complete luxury on the exterior as well interior and will be categorized as a premium car. It is speculated that the mini would be priced between 20-25 lakhs.

The BMW Mini Cooper will be imported as completely built units.  It is ideally crafted to meet the needs of the Indian roads. It is expected that the Mini is just 60 mm longer than its predecessor and offers a similar width which means it is not exceptionally wide and can comfortably seat smaller passengers.  However it is slightly larger than the Fiat 500 and Beetle which gives it an edge in the small car segment.  It is noted that there is limited leg space at the rear end while the trunk can hold aproximately160 liters which is slightly bigger than the older edition.

Powertrain

BMW Mini Cooper will offer options of four engine types a 1.4 liter petrol engine which would generate 95 bhp which is not very powerful.  The  optional 1.6 liter diesel engine  which produces  110 bhp  which is much better  in comparison to the 1.4 liter engine. It also offers an option of 1.6 liter engine which would deliver 120bhp. The Cooper S would be powered by turbocharged 1.6 liter engine which would pump out 175 bhp.

The Mini offers a superb performance keeping up to the BMW reputation It offers a smooth ride even on bumpy roads. It has been designed to offer a better performance than its earlier edition.

All auto enthusiasts from India would have to wait till June 2010 till this edition is launched.
