From March 3 to 13 at the Palexpo Convention Center in Geneva, Switzerland, car enthusiasts and experts alike gathered for the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Plenty of carmakers came to showcase their sports cars.
Picking out favorites has got to be one of the hardest things we’ve had to do but we eventually came up with a list. See if it matches yours. Here are the top five sports cars that have kept our attention.

Alfa Romeo Giulia
We start off our list with the Alfa Romeo Giulia. The Alfa Romeo Giulia is not a pure sports car but a sports sedan; thus falling low in our list of the top five sports cars from the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
However, this sports sedan is a stunner with the standard Guilia 2.0-liter turbo charged four-cylinder engine that can produce 276 horsepower. Not a bad thing, right? Also, it has a rear-wheel drive and an optional manual for those who opt to drive at their own terms. This definitely is not your ordinary sedan.
Mercedes-AMG C43 4Matic Cabriolet
The new Mercedes Benz C-Class Cabriolet, another very chic sedan, makes it into our list competing with convertibles like the Audi A5 and BMW 4 Series convertibles. A more stylish convertible compared to the E-Class and a more competitive rival to the Audi A5 and BMW 4 Series convertibles, the new Mercedes Benz C-Class Cabriolet will be available as a “C300 with 2.0-liter turbo-four engine”.
It can produce 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft or torque. The Mercedes-AMG C43 4Matic Cabriolet on the other hand is perfect for thrill-seekers and adrenaline junkies which can get to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. This is because of its bi-turbo 3.0-liter V6 producing 362 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. Take that, for a sports sedan.
Aston Martin DB11
Another car on our list is the sophisticated Aston Martin DB11. Unlike its predecessors with the V12 engine, the DB11 has “an all new 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 with 600 horsepower”. Translated to speed, that’s 60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds. Wow!
Aside from its speed, the DB11 is one of the few Aston Martin models to feature advanced technology. The new DB11 hopefully does not share the same problem as other Aston Martins like its sluggish transmissions (which doesn’t maximize its power and potential) and some other interior problems.
Fiat 124 Abarth
Coming in at fourth place on our list is the Fiat 124 Abarth. It might not look like your ordinary sports car, but this little Italian brand has a lot more to it than meets the eye. It features a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder motor with 170 horsepower.
It is lightweight and has a firmer suspension and standard limited-slip differential. This is one of the most affordable sports cars ever since the release of Honda S2000. However, the 124 Abarth isn’t up for grabs yet so you better get ready once this little roadster starts to hit the roads.
Porsche 911 R
And finally, first on our list is (drum roll please) the Porsche 911 R. With its classic design, the Porsche 911 R has a 500-hp 4.0-liter flat six engine and can power up to 8,800 rpm. It’s basically like the GT3RS minus the aero and the PDK transmission. In exchange for this though is the one transmission choice with all-new six-speed manual. There will be 991 Porsche 911 R units to be
sold each, each with a $185,950 base price. It’s no wonder this baby is part of our list. These might be gone before you know it as many have been eyeing this masterpiece for its classic sports car design with a whole new set of modern features. Get a hold of your own 911 R before they’re resold for an unreasonably higher collector’s price.
