First Look:
The 2012 BMW 6 Series will be the third generation of the stunning beauty and even in its third generation the car has a special niche in the lineup of the automaker. The 6 Series has been the flagship GT platform for the company and has been their experimental canvas as well, the second for Chris Bangle, the previous design chief’s polarizing exteriors.
For the model year 2012, the car sees a complete redesign, and the all new 2012 BMW 650i fundamentally sheds the Bangle’s design legacy completely and enters the market with a long, wide, short and sharp appearance. The bigger dimension for the car could be attributed to a brand new aluminum-exhaustive back-wheel-drive structural design, which according to BMW is 50 percent firmer than its forerunner.
The chassis of the car needs that additional rigidity because the car now has a V8 under its hood. The new engine although is a tad smaller than the previous engine powering the 6 series engine. The new 4.4 ltr twin-turbo generates a lot more horsepower and almost 100 lbs-ft more short-end torque. The torque for the 650i takes the car from 0 to 60 mph in hardly a few tenths of seconds shorter than the V10 engine powered M6.
Internally the all new 650i has a stunningly graven cabin having a lot more driver oriented dashboard than most of the previous models. In addition to the all new 10.2 in navigation display, it’s pretty apparent through the attention given to the details showered on the controls, the general design and instruments that BMW has taken their time to develop the interiors for the new 6 series as oppose to its precursor. Considering each and every aspect of the all new 2012 BMW 6 Series, we would say that the car is a rather impressive grand touring convertible and coupe. But there still are some competing models in the market. with its classic curves and a frivolous aluminum structure, one strong rival for the new 6 series is the Jaguar XK, and it also has the same character and performance, on the other hand there is the Mercedes-Benz E550, which offers similar amount of luxury, but for a lesser price and at the same time offers adequate room for the passengers in the rear seat. But with the all the new styling and strength, the new 650i clearly is one of the most stimulating luxury experiences that you could get in current market.
What’s New for 2012 BMW 6 Series?
The 2012 BMW 6 Series is a completely redesigned model. Some of the noteworthy highlights for the convertible and coupe include sharp looks, bigger wheels and an all new twin-turbo V8 engine generating significantly impressive low-end torque. As for now there only is the 650i model available in market, but you soon will be getting a high-performance M6 and 6-cylinder model. There also is a possibility of a 4-door BMW 6 Series.
Body Styling and Features:
The 2012 BMW 6 Series comes in two body styles only as for now, and those are: a BMW 650i coupe and a BMW 650i convertible.
The list of standard equipments for the car comprises of equipments such as 19 in alloy wheels, adaptive xenon headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, an adaptive suspension, parking sensors, LED foglights, auto-dimming mirrors, a huge tilt-only sunroof, cruise control power-folding mirrors, passenger and driver memory functions, 16-way power front seats, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, leather upholstery and a rearview camera.

The power for the 2012 BMW 650i comes from a 4.4 ltr V8 twin-turbo engine which generates maximum power of 400 bhp and 450 lb-ft of maximum torque. The standard transmission here is an 8-speed automatic transmission having manual shift control; there also is a 6-speed manual transmission, available as option.
The estimated fuel economy for the car is of 16 mpg in city and 24 mpg on highways, which comes to a combined fuel economy of 19 mpg. Go for manual transmission and you could get 15 mpg in city and 22 mpg on highways and 17 mpg combined for both.
Safety Equipments:
The standard safety equipments for the all new 2012 BMW 6 Series includes the likes of 4-wheel antilock brakes having sophisticated drying and standby features, stability and traction control, front knee airbags, front-seat side airbags, BMW Assist and active head restraints. The Convertible also gets Pop-up roll bars as standard safety equipments.
