2012 BMW X6 – Rather Poor Mix Together

First Look:

The modern car making is coming down to “coupelike” styling, at least that is what the current generation of vehicles entering the market suggests. But this trend couldn’t be attributed to the modern models, it all started with 4-door sedans having downwardly spanning roof lines some years back, and now we see that coupe concept now getting down to crossover SUVs, and the 2012 BMW X6 is a fine example of that.

The 2012 BMW X6 has everything that it takes to a fine crossover vehicle starting from strong styling, all-wheel drive to eminent ride height. But all these attributes has been concealed by a sloped roof line, which hints speed. The 2012 BMW X6 is around three inches shorter than the conventional X5 SUV with which the vehicle shares its platform, but the good thing here is  that the X6 handles a tad better if you arent driving fast. But just like any other coupe, there are certain compromises made in almost every department, and the most noticeable in this case is the cargo capacity and rear seat space.

For sure, the 2012 BMW X6 offers a lot more pleasing and enjoyable driving experience just like any BMW model, and it even the less powerful variant of the two vehicles is rather impressive. The X6 comes with a communicative steering and buttoned-down suspension which further shows to its roots. But there’s no denying the fact that the BMW X6 is a big and heavy vehicle and hence never confuse it with a sport sedan. As marketed, the X6 does drives like an actually sporty SUV, but doesn’t have any serious practicality.

Seeing all that, we just find any serious reason for buying X6, especially when there are so many conventional luxury vehicles available in market, and on top of that the fact that many of those vehicles are available with all-wheel drive. Among all the luxury SUVs, the BMW X5 doesn’t comes with the same ostentatious styling like the X6, but the good thing is that it offers almost the same driving experience in addition with complete backseat and an extensive cargo area. One another sport-tuned SUV is the Porsche Cayenne, it also has great practicality.

But we think that practicality won’t be an issue for someone who’s buying 2012 BMW X6. The thing that matter here is that the buyers love styling and the fact that it’s a BMW.

What’s New for 2011 BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo?

The 2012 BMW X6 comes with an optional rear center seat, which increases the seating capacity of the vehicle to five. Except for that, there isn’t any significant change in the vehicle, apart from minor ruffling of optional and standard features.

The 2012 BMW X6 comes in a single body style of a 4 seater SUV (you can get an optional rear seat and increase seating capacity to 5), which further is available in two trim levels corresponding to the engine choice: the xDrive50i and xDrive35i. The xDrive in the name represents the all-wheel-drive system as the standard equipment for the vehicle. There also is one another trim in the form of the ultra high-performance BMW X6 M.

Verdict:

The 2012 BMW X6 might be advertised as a cross of coupe and SUV, but it in fact is a rather poor mix together of both.
