2016 Honda NC700X & CB500X First Look

The 2016 NC700X and 2016 CB500X receive styling and mechanical updates, aimed primarily at improving touring ability.

Lee Edmonds, Manager of Motorcycle Marketing and Communications at American Honda provided this statement in a company press release:

“As was made clear with today’s unveiling in Japan, the NC700X and CB500X benefit from significant upgrades for 2016. Both of these models have been popular with American customers since their respective introductions, and with exciting new looks plus performance-oriented changes, they’re better than ever. The NC700X and CB500X join our two larger-displacement adventure machines—the VFR1200X and CRF1000L Africa Twin—in Honda’s comprehensive adventure lineup, which we look forward to debuting in the U.S. at the November 20-22 International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, California.”

The 670cc NC700X remains available in both standard manual and DCT transmission versions, though for 2016 the DCT machine receives three sport mode settings. The storage compartment has been enlarged to accommodate a full-face helmet and the windscreen is updated as well. The NC700x receives an LED taillight and utility rail to make packing luggage simpler. The exhaust has been changed also, now a pentagon-shaped muffler which Honda claims provides an improved aural note. The NC700X will be available in Silver Metallic by April 2016, with pricing yet to be determined.

The 2016 CB500X, a 471cc liquid-cooled Parallel Twin, gets revised styling for a more aggressive look along with a taller windscreen for better wind protection. There’s new LED headlights and taillights and an updated muffler design as well. The bike comes with adjustable fork preload and an adjustable front brake lever, an updated gearbox and revised rear shock settings. There are two versions available, with or without ABS. The 2016 CB500X without ABS will be available in Matte Black Metallic at a price of $6499 and the ABS version will come in Matte Brown Metallic (shown above) and be had for a price of $6799. Both versions will be available starting February, 2016.
